A website devoted to thoughts about hockey and life, which to any sane person are one in the same.

Welcome to Hockeythink.com! Here you will find the various things I (and some others) have written about the greatest winter sport in the world since I went on-line on February 19, 2001, originally under the name Puckerings.com. Please also see my Puckerings column on the HockeyZonePlus website.

For anyone who wants to know, the Puckerings name comes from old (circa 1910 or so) newspapers, which would report brief hockey tidbits under a heading like Puckerings, or Pucklets.

Latest update:

June 19, 2006: Good god! It's an update! I bet you all thought I had dropped off the face of the planet. Well, if I had done that, my hosting company would have gone unpaid, and this site would have been deleted long ago.

I've added a new article to the research page. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it illustrates a point. I also cleaned up the dead links on the site, and updated the About Me page; the contact email in particular has changed (the old one doesn't exist anymore).

The Hockey Analysis Group is still going strong.

On the hockey research front, don't expect updates to be very frequent here. I have started working on a book, which will consume much of my free time, and may eventually have a 2% chance of being published, if I'm lucky.

Click on the links above (or below) to navigate the site. Here's what you'll find:

Research: The many and varied articles I (and some others) have written on the topic of statistical analysis in hockey (for the most part), or hockey history in general.

Articles: A collection of shorter writings, which often involve nearly as much opining as analysis. This link will take you to the Puckerings section of the HockeyZonePlus.com website, which is an excellent site, incidentally.

Stats: Statistics that I have compiled myself (for the most part), or stats that I have contributed something to. Mostly it's the Manitoba senior hockey league from the 1890's to the 1920's.

Players: Information about some of my favourite hockeyists of all time.

Links: A collection of the best hockey and sports analysis links.

Lacrosse: An offshoot of my hockey research, I'm also interested in the history of lacrosse in Canada and around the world.

About me: Info on me, Iain Fyffe, including contact info. Feel free to send your comments!
